چکیده

Balanced chromosomal translocations that generate chimeric oncoproteins are considered to be initiating lesions in the pathogenesis of acute myeloid leukemia. The most frequent is the t(15;17)(q22;q21), which fuses th leukemia (APL). An increasing proportion of APL cases are therapy develop following exposure to radiotherapy and/or chemotherapeutic agents that target DNA topoisomerase II (topoII), particularly mitoxantrone and epirubicin. To gain insights into molecular mechanisms underlying the formation of the t(15;17) we mapped the translocation breakpoints in a series of t-APLs, which revealed significant clustering according the drug exposure. Remarkably, in approximately half of t mitoxantrone treatment for breast within an 8-bp “hotspot” region in topoII-mediated DNA cleavage induced by mitoxantrone. outside the “hotspot”, and the corresponding topoII cleavage sites. The observation t susceptible to topoII-mediated DNA damage induced by epirubicin and mitoxantrone may underlie the propensity of these agents to cause APL. Introduction. Identification and Molecular Characterization of the cDNA Encoding Cucumis melo Allergen, Cuc m 3, a Plant Pathogenesis-Related Protein

Background: Melon (Cucumis melo) allergy is one of the most common food allergies, characterized by oral allergy syndrome. To date, two allergen molecules, Cuc m 1 and Cuc m 2, have been fully characterized in melon pulp, but there are few reports about the molecular characteristics of Cuc m 3. Methods:The Cuc m 3 cDNA has been characterized by rapid amplification of cDNA ends (RACE), which ...

MicroRNAs as a New Molecular Biomarker for Diagnosis and Prognosis of T-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (T-ALL): A Systematic Review

MicroRNAs (miRNAs, miRs) are small endogenous non-coding RNAs that regulate the expression of protein-encoding genes at the post-transcriptional level. Several studies have described the role of miRNAs in T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T-ALL), including tumor suppressor and oncogenic miRNAs. Down-regulation of miRNA expression is a prominent feature of human malignancy. This down-regulati...

UBE2Q1, as Down Regulated Gene in Pediatric Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia

Ubiquitin - proteasome system (UPS), the major protein degradation pathway in the cells, typically degrades short - lived and damaged proteins and regulates growth and stress responses. This pathway is altered in various cancers, including Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL). ALL begins with a change in bone marrow cells and is the most common type of leukemia in children under 15 years. UBE2Q1...

Relationship Between SOX17 Gene Expression and Prognosis in Acute Myeloid Leukemia

Background: Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) is a group of heterogeneous malignancies caused by defects in differentiation of hematopoietic cells. SRY-box containing gene 17(SOX17) is a transcription factor which plays an important role in several biological processes, including cardiogenesis, angiogenesis, and lymphopoiesis. Aberrant expression of SOX17 has been detected in solid tumors. This stud...

Expression of BCL2L12 in acute leukemia patients: Potential association with clinical and prognostic factors

Introduction: Apoptosis is an important mechanism in both physiological and pathological conditions. The BCL2 family of proteins plays a critical role in regulation of apoptotic cell death. Up and down regulation of BCL2-like 12 (BCL2L12), a new member of the BCL2 family, has been reported in several malignancies. However, the expression level of BCL2L12 rarely has been studied in leukemia. T...
